The HuSArctic lead Prof. Hossain has given a talk at the seminar on “Human security in the Arctic” organized jointly by the Finnish Institute of International Affairs (FIIA) and the Arctic Centre of the University of Lapland.

On Wedenesday, April 13th, HuSArctic organized a meeting with various stakeholders from the Lapland region. The aim of the meeting was to have an informal discussion on how current developments may influence individual or community well-being in the region. Participants were representing diverse groups such as the mining sector, Sámi people, reindeer herders, public administration, or tourism sector.

On Thursday, February 25th, the HuSArctic research team in cooperation with the Northern Institute for Environmental and Minority Law (Arctic Centre, University of Lapland) successfully held a seminar titled: “Towards Arctic Security: Northern Aspects of Human Security.”

On Monday, April 13th 2015, participants and stakeholders will come together for the kick-off meeting of the HuSArctic project.

The meeting will include a brainstorming session to elaborate the approach on how to achieve the objectives of the project, as well as on the implementation of the project. A number of international collaborating researchers and local stakeholders have been invited for the meeting.
